Welcome to HAX Elite. This isn’t a brand. It’s not a business plan. It’s belief, loyalty, and a few tired legs choosing to show up every day. We’re unaffiliated, unpolished, and unshakably committed to chasing something real through the power of running.

Sam Parsons

Sam Parsons is a professional distance runner, co-founder of the pioneering training group Tinman Elite, and a passionate advocate for mental health and athlete empowerment. A former NCAA standout at NC State, Sam turned pro in 2018 and quickly made waves on the international scene, representing Germany at the 2022 World Championships in the 5000m.

Known for his electric energy, signature sunglasses, and gritty racing style, Sam brings a rare blend of authenticity and intensity to the track. Beyond competition, he’s deeply invested in storytelling, athlete-led innovation, and building community around the sport. Whether he's training at altitude in Boulder, traveling the world to race, or creating content that resonates with runners of all levels, Sam lives with the mantra: Keep Showing Up. What does Sam really want? To leave a legacy on the sport that running is cool, inclusive, and for anyone who wants to put one foot in front of the other one day after another.

Sam currently represents Tracksmith on the track while also working as creative consult for the brand.

Drew Hunter

Drew Hunter is a professional distance runner, co-founder of Tinman Elite, and one of the most accomplished high school distance runners in American history. After signing a pro contract straight out of high school in 2016, Drew quickly established himself as a force on the track, notching personal bests of 3:33 in the 1500m, 13:08 in the 5K, and 27:24 in the 10K.

Driven by a deep love for the sport and a belief in the power of community, Drew helped launch Tinman Elite to redefine what it means to be a pro runner — blending performance, storytelling, and purpose. Off the track, he’s the founder of Hammer & Axe, a coaching and content platform that helps runners chase big goals while staying connected to the joy of the journey.

A husband, father, and competitor with Olympic dreams, Drew is still chasing greatness — one mile, one project, and one season at a time. Drew is trying new things in training and racing, will it work? Only one way to find out.

Drew is currently representing asics and looking to 2028 and a shot at making the Olympics in LA.

Joey Berriuatua

Joey Berriatua is a professional distance runner, Tinman Elite veteran, and one of the most versatile racers on the American distance scene. A former Santa Clara standout, Joey made his mark as a fearless competitor in events ranging from the 1500m to the 10K — but ultimately found his home in the Steeplechase event where he finished 7th at the 2024 Olympic Trials.

Since turning pro, Joey has become a cornerstone of Tinman Elite, known for his consistency, leadership, and relentless work ethic. Whether he’s pushing the pace in Boulder or mentoring younger teammates, he brings a quiet intensity and deep love for the sport that lifts everyone around him.

Beyond racing, Joey is deeply committed to the process. He understands the grind, embraces the setbacks, and continues to evolve — not just as a runner, but as a person. In a sport that demands resilience, Joey is the kind of guy you want in your corner. Joey is so damn stubborn, but in a good way, he won’t give up, and that’s why he is still here.

Joey currently represents asics and is looking to make a spot on the 2028 Olympic team.

Austen Dalquist

Austen Dalquist is a professional 1500m distance runner known for his steady presence, vocal leadership, and commitment to the long game. A University of Arkansas alum, Austen has raced at the elite level across the U.S. and internationally, bringing a gritty, blue-collar approach to every starting line.

Austen has helped shape the team’s identity from day one — not just through performance, but through belief, loyalty, and heart. Whether he's putting in work at altitude in Boulder or supporting teammates through the highs and lows of the sport, Austen leads by example.

With his eyes still set on personal breakthroughs and team success, Austen represents everything HAX Elite stands for: perseverance, passion, and the pursuit of something bigger than yourself. Austen’s positivity and belief in his God given talents are the reason he keeps saying yes- to new training, to a new version of him racing, and to the sport that has given him so much.

Austen currently represents Tracksmith and is looking to make a name for himself in the USA 1500m ranks.

HAX Elite

Based in Boulder, Colorado, HAX Elite is a grassroots training group made up of high-performing runners committed to doing things a little differently.

We don’t train for attention or applause—we train for the love of the work.
Every rep, every mile, every breakthrough is rooted in the rhythm of showing up—together.
It’s not about chasing recognition. It’s about chasing what’s just beyond our reach, side by side.

Who We Are

HAX stands for more than just Hammer and Axe — it stands for the core values we live by:

  • Transparent in our process

  • Approachable to the community

  • Motivated by the work

  • Determined to improve

  • Reliable teammates

  • Fun-loving, always

We’re a team that shows up, gets after it, and welcomes others into the grind. Whether it’s a workout, a long run, or a simple group jog, we believe in making elite training more open-source and less exclusive.

What We Do

  • We train together in Boulder, CO.

  • We’re open to others joining us — workouts are collaborative, not closed off. (You’ll sometimes catch a Dan or two hopping in.)

  • We host community runs on Saturdays at 9am from Tom Watson — anyone in town is welcome.

  • We haven’t launched a dedicated social page yet — not because we’re hiding, but because we want any exposure to feel real and earned. No hype train. Just honest storytelling, when the time feels right.

What We’re Not

We’re not chasing sponsorships— been there, done that!
We’re not looking to scale too fast—change is hard!
We’re not exclusive, but we are intentional— get on the train or get off the track!

Why HAX?

Because there’s still power in showing up for each other, without the pressure of contracts or cameras. Because being elite doesn’t have to mean being untouchable. Because we love this sport, and we’re still just getting started. Don’t be a stranger. Drop us a note to say hi, pitch a wild idea, or jump in and support the ride. No playbook—just movement.
